What AOD-9604 is

A 16-residue synthetic fragment corresponding to residues 176 to 191 of human growth hormone, with an added tyrosine. The research interest is dissociative: the fragment reproduces the lipolytic activity of the parent hormone in the published models without the growth-promoting or insulin-antagonising activity, making it a tool for separating two functions of one protein.

Mechanism

Reported to act on adipose tissue through beta-3 adrenergic receptor pathways rather than the growth hormone receptor. It does not raise IGF-1 in the published work, which is the main evidence that the two activities are separable.
