What PT-141 is Bremelanotide is the deaminated metabolite of Melanotan II. Losing the C-terminal amide shifts its receptor profile toward MC4R and away from the MC1R activity that drives pigmentation, which made it possible to study central melanocortin pathways without the peripheral effect confounding results.
