What GHK-Cu is GHK is a tripeptide that occurs naturally in human plasma, saliva and urine, with a very high affinity for copper(II). The complex, not the free peptide, is the biologically interesting species. Plasma concentrations of GHK decline markedly with age, which is what first drew attention to it. Mechanism Acts as a copper delivery vehicle to enzymes requiring it as a cofactor, notably lysyl oxidase in collagen cross-linking. Separately reported to modulate expression of a broad set of genes involved in matrix remodelling and antioxidant response.
